Aprileen Coh, Founder, Chairman Emeritus, USCS Alumna

Aprileen Coh, an alumna from the University of California, Santa Cruz, had the foresight to establish The aKDPhi Foundation in 2011, paving the way to allow our members to leave a lasting legacy within our membership and community.

Named after our Founder & Chairwoman Emeritus, The Aprileen Coh Scholarship, formerly known as the aKDPhi Foundation Scholarship, focuses on empowering women who embody the vision of the Foundation to drive positive change in the world through their unique passions and skillsets.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the Aprileen Coh Scholarship, the applicant:

  • Must be a sister of aKDPhi 

  • Must be a full-time student if they are an undergraduate

  • Must complete this application in its entirety by the deadline

  • Must supply the required documents by the deadline

Sophia Yen, an alumna from the University of California, Berkeley, initiated the process of establishing the National Alumnae Board (NAB) with the vision of continuing sisterhood after graduation. In 2015, the National Alumnae Association (NAA) renamed its scholarship the Sophia Yen Scholarship Award. With the recent reorganization of the aKDPhi International Leadership Board, The aKDPhi Foundation inherited this scholarship initiative in 2021.

The Sophia Yen Scholarship rewards exceptional sisters in pursuit of their professional development through education.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for the Sophia Yen Scholarship, the applicant:

  • Must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate institution for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year

  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0+ (on a 4.0 scale or equivalent) at the time of application 

  • Must currently hold an active, alumna, associate, affiliate, or affiliate-alumnae status as defined by the aKDPhi National Handbook

  • Must complete this application in its entirety by the deadline

  • Must supply the required documents by the deadline
